This welcome book will provide you with everything you need to know about what to expect from us going forward, plus some handy tips and tricks for the big day.

The studio is conveniently located near both the A1 and A19, making it easily accessible for those travelling to see us. When approaching from the roundabout, please follow the road as indicated on the map linked below.

Our business hours will remain the same, and there will be no changes to your scheduled appointment times.

Dress Storage

Did you know we can store your dress for you ahead of your fitting appointments, this is at a cost of £65 per year. (reduced to £45 for under 6 months)

Fitting Appointments

We like to start fittings 6 weeks before your wedding/fly date, we carry out around 3 appointments during this time.

The first fitting is to discuss your dress and the alterations needed. We will take your measurements and go through a breakdown of the costs.

At your second fitting your gown is temporary stitched ready for you to retry and check the fit is perfect.

The final fitting is usually around 2 weeks before your wedding. At this fitting all work has been completed, and your dress is ready to retry and collect.

An additional appointment can be arranged to collect if you wish to leave your dress with us until the week of your wedding.

Please bring your dress, shoes and any shapewear that would affect the fit to all three fitting appointments.

Payments

A nonrefundable booking fee of £40 is taken when booking your fitting appointments. This is to cover all admin fees, any changes or cancellations to your appointments. Please note this is a one-off payment and does not come off the cost of your alterations.

The cost for your alterations is discussed and then paid at your first fitting.

Collecting your dress

You can choose to collect your dress at your final fit, or we can book an additional collection appointment in for the week of your wedding.

All dresses are steamed and perfect ready for collection, if you need to make any changes to your collection appointment, please give us a minimum of 48hours notice.

You may choose to bring a king size duvet cover to your collection appointment. This is an alternative to your dress bag and is advised to give your dress more room to move and reduces creasing especially if you have a large gown.

We also offer a pressing service for bridesmaid gowns, mother of the bride/groom dresses if needed. This is at an additional charge and can be collected with your bridal gown.

Travelling abroad

If you are travelling abroad for your wedding, we can supply a travel box and package your dress at your collection appointment.

Our boxes are the correct size for travel luggage meaning they can go in an overhead locker. We hold stock of a range of our boxes therefore they can be purchased at any of your fitting appointments.

Bespoke Accessories

Our sister company Harry Holtby Bridal Accessories offers custom made accessories, from veils, capes, sleeves, bows and more, all based in the same studio.

Accessories can be ordered at your first fit or alternatively we can book an earlier appointment in the studio to have your bespoke pieces made ready for your first fitting.

We also have a range of hair pieces and jewellery by Ivory and Co and underwear by Boomba which can be viewed and purchased during your appointments

Cleaning

We offer both a pre clean and an aftercare cleaning service.

Pre clean is at a cost of £55 to freshen up a sample dress bought off the peg.

Our aftercare service is a full specialist clean after the wedding so your dress can be stored away or if you wish to sell it on.

Aftercare cleaning service starts from £160. Just give us a call after your wedding to book an appointment, we can give an exact price for cleaning at this time depending on soiling.

Your dress can also be packaged in a storage box at an extra cost.

Our tips and tricks

  • All dresses are steamed ready for collection however if after transit you feel you need to use a handheld steamer, we would recommend doing this the night before not the morning of.
  • We advise bringing someone along to your final fitting to learn how to put you in the dress, then we are here to help if you have any questions ahead of the big day.
  • Worried about a lace up back? We have a handy how to video to forward to your bridesmaids to help them on what to do on the day.
  • Cut your hanging tapes out of your dress on the morning of the wedding. They can slip out and ruin your photos or be seen through sheer panels on your dress.
  • Use talc powder on your body before putting your dress on if it is a hot day to soak up any moisture.
  • Sore feet on the day? Rub on some Nurofen gel to ease the pain.
  • Lots of loops and buttons? We can show you how to use a hair pin as a tool to help make this less fiddly.

DATA PROTECTION

All data is stored using password protection following the data protection privacy policy guidelines

SERVICES

Diva Designs for you will carry out alteration services as discussed and to the seamstress’s recommendations. All details will be recorded on alteration documents, discussed in full at the first fit and signed before any work is carried out.

Any variation or change to the services which will incur additional costs to Diva Designs for you will be met by the customer.

CANCELLATION

No service/order which has been accepted by Diva Designs for you may be cancelled by the customer, except with the agreement of Diva Designs for you and on the terms that the customers payment is non-refundable. Any additional costs occurred by and above the payment (including all other costs before the time of cancellation) will be charged to the customer.

PRICE AND PAYMENT TERMS

The price for the services shall be the price set out in the alteration documents, payable by the customer to Diva Designs for you for the full alterations agreed.

Diva Designs for you will be entitled to full payment as set out on the order/contract for the said services before they may be taken from the premises. Payment may be made by cash. debit card or credit card. (Please note American Express is not accepted).

DEFECTIVE GOODS

Upon collection all gowns shall be inspected by the customer for any defects, marks, stains and general condition. Removal of the gown from the premises of Diva Designs for you shall be assumed to be acceptance that the gown is in satisfactory condition. Diva Designs for you will not accept responsibility for damage or soiling of the gown once it has left the premises.

Any claim by the customer for any defect or damage of the gown which was not apparent on fitting/inspection will not be the responsibility of Diva Designs for you.

MEASUREMENTS

All alterations will be carried out based on the customer’s measurements, which will be taken at the first fit.

Diva Designs for you cannot be held liable for any change in the customer’s measurements between the date of first fit and the date of collection of the gown.
